RESOLUT~ON NO. 5877
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF RECLAIMED WATER PROGRAMS
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon supports water conserva-
tion and water reclamation, in order to further the City of
Vernon's mission of insuring an adequate supply of potable
water for District customers;
WHEREAS, the Central Basin Municipal Water District
has developed a reclaimed water project known as the Century
Reclamation Program which will deliver reclaimed water for
special nonpotable purposes such as landscape irrigation;
WHEREAS, the City desires to extend the Century
Reclamation Program to its service area by participating in a
regional feasibility study which would explore the potential
for reclaimed water use in its service area and the surround-
ing areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.
SECTION 2: That the City supports and will actively
participate in a regional reclaimed water feasibility study to
investigate the potential for reclaimed water use and develop
a project to deliver reclaimed water for those identified uses
in the cities of Pico Rivera, Whitter, Vernon, Montebello and
other surrounding areas.

2 SECTION 3: That the City hereby requests that
3 Central Basin Municipal Water District initiate a feasibility
4 study and that they solicit the cooperative effort
5 of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern california, the
6 Los Angeles County Sanitation District, and retail water
7 agencies impacted by the study.
S~CTION 4: That a copy of this resolution be sent
to the governing body of the Central Basin Municipal Water
District.

1991.
