RESOLUTION NO. 5972
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON APPROVING CONTRACT NO. 507
AND AUTHORIZING NOTICE INVITING SEALED
PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR RESURFACING OF VARIOUS
STREETS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 507
OF THE CITY OF VERNON
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Coun-
cil of the City of Vernon Contract No. 507 for Resurfacing of
various streets; and
WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Vernon has
determined that it is in the best interests of the City of
Vernon that said contract be advertised in accordance with ap-
plicable State law;
WHEREAS, these streets, except for the work as-
sociated wi.th Fire station No.2, were approved to receive the
second cycle of the StatelLocal Transportation Partnership
Program Fund, estimated to be worth 11.1% of the contract
price; and
WHEREAS, the City must use a Local DBEprogram to
receive the State/Local Transportation Funds, and said DBE
must account for 13% of the contract price as approved by the
State of California.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.
SECTION 2: Contract No. 507, Resurfacing of Various
Streets, is hereby approved by the City Council of the City

2 of Vernon.
3 SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
4 hereby directed to file in his office at the city Hall of the
5 city of Vernon a copy of said contract.
6 SECTION 4: The city Clerk of the city of Vernon is
7 hereby directed to give notice, in writing, inviting sealed
8 proposals or bids for Resurfacing of Various streets, in ac-
9 cordance with Contract No. 507 and in accordance with this
10 resolution.
11 SECTION 5: There being no newspaper of general cir-
12 culation printed, published or circulated in the City of Ver-
13 non, the City Clerk is hereby directed to post said notice, or
14 cause the same to be posted, in three of the most public
15 places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of
16 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast corner of
17 Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin
18 board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City Hall of the
19 City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City.
20 SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
21 hereby directed to post said notice forthwith and the first
22 posting of said notice shall be not less than ten {lo)days
23 before the opening of the bids for the proposed contract.
24 Said notice shall provide that sealed proposals or bids will
25 be received by the City of Vernon at the office of the City
26 Clerk of the City, at the city Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue,
27 Vernon, CA 90058-0805, until the hour of 2:00 p.m. on the
28 11th day of September, 1991.

SECTION 7: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon
and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
