RESOLUTION NO. 5975

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON APPROVING A ONE-YEAR
EXTENSION OF CONTRACT NO. 443 AND A 3.0%
INCREASE IN COMPENSATION FOR SIGNAL
MAINTENANCE, INC.

WHEREAS, Contract No. 443, Traffic Signal Maintenance
6 Agreement, was awarded to Signal Maintenance, Inc. , by
7 Resolution No. 4830 on August 6, 1981, for a term of five years
8 from September 1, 1981 to August 31, 1986; and
9
WHEREAS,
said contract provided for annual cost
10 increases based on the consumer price index and for annual
11 extensions thereof after August 31, 1986; and
12 WHEREAS, said contract has been extended annually since
13 August 31, 1986, and has included cost adjustments with the last
14 extension and cost increase approved by minute order of the city
15 Council on July 3, 1990; and
16 WHEREAS, said contract will expire on August 31, 1991,
17 unless extended, and Signal Maintenance, Inc. has requested a
18 one-year extension of said contract with a cost increase of
19 3.0%; and
20
WHEREAS, the Director of community Services has
21 recommended that said contract be extended and has verified that
22 Signal Maintenance, Inc. is eligible for a 3.0% increase based
23 on the consumer price index.
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
25 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the city of Vernon
27 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
28 hereinabove are true and correct.

SECTION 2: The city Council of the city of Vernon
2 hereby approves the Extension of Contract No. 443, a copy of
3 which has been presented to the City Council concurrently with
4 this resolution and the City council hereby orders said
5 Extension to be received and filed by the city Clerk.
6 SECTION 3: The City Council of the city of Vernon
7 hereby approves an increase in the compensation paid to Signal
8 Maintenance, Inc., effective September 1, 1991, in the amount of
9 3 . 0% .

SECTION 4: The city Council of the city of Vernon
11 hereby authorizes the Mayor and the city Clerk to execute the
12 Extension of Contract No. 443 for, and on behalf of, the City of
13 Vernon.

SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
15 certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
16 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

That certain contract entered into by and between the
4
City of Vernon and Signal Maintenance, Inc. is hereby'extended
5

for a one (1) year period from September 1, 1991 through August
6
31, 1992, according to Section 16 of the Special provisions of
said contract.

Signal Maintenance, Inc. is granted a cost increase of
9
three percent (3.0%) according to Section 12 of the Special
Provisions.

In all other respects the terms and conditions of the
Traffic Signal Maintenance Agreement (Contract No. 443) shall
remain in effect.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this
Extension to be executed as of this &1 thday of August~ 1991,
in the City of Vernon, California.
