Resolution No. 5983 '- 1 RESOLUTION NO. 5983 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON EXPRESSING ITS REGRET AT 3 THE UNTIMELY PASSING OF JACK PARKS AND OFFERING ITS CONDOLENCES TO HIS SURVIVING 4 FAMILY 5 WHEREAS, JACK PARKS was a member of the Huntington Park 6 City Council since March 1976 and served as its Mayor four 7 times, 1978, 1983, 1988 and 1991; and 8 WHEREAS, JACK PARKS was a past Exalted Ruler of 9 Huntington Park Elks Lodge #1415, involved with the Huntington 10 Park Sister cities Association, an active member of the 11 Huntington Park Chamber and owned and operated ABC Autobody Shop 12 in Huntington Park since the early 1950's; and 13 WHEREAS, the successful operation of local government 14 for the benefit of the people depends upon the concerned 15 leadership of civic minded persons; and ) 16 WHEREAS, nowhere has such community awareness been more 17 evident than with JACK PARKS who has served his community in a 18 prominent, conscientious and capable manner for the past 15 19 years; and 20 WHEREAS, during his lifetime, JACK PARKS demonstrated 21 high ideals of public service, a keen sense of justice, a never 22 failing courtesy, and was ever interested and willing to 23 cooperate in all matters pertinent to the public welfare. 24 WHEREAS, the untimely passing of JACK PARKS on August 25 28, 1991, raises a chorus of regret from all good men he has 26 known; and 27 WHEREAS, the members of the City Council of the City of 28 Vernon individually, collectively, and on behalf of the people 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 1 2 of the City of Vernon wish to express their regret at the untimely demise of JACK PARKS. 3 4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: 5 6 SECTION 1: The city council of the City of Vernon, on behalf of the entire City, mourns the passing of JACK PARKS and 7 expresses its deep condolences to his surviving relatives, to wit: his wife, Anne, his son, Ron Parks who is the Mayor of 8 9 Temecula, and his two granddaughters. SECTION 2: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Jack Parks in care of the City of Huntington Park. SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
