RESOLUTION NO. 6056

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
3 OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA PROVIDING FOR THE
APPOINTMENT TO THE OFFICES OF THIS CITY THAT
4 WERE TO BE ELECTED ON TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 1992
5 WHEREAS, pursuant to section 22843.5 of the Elections
6 Code of the State of California, as of 5:00 p.m. on February 11,
7 1992, only one person had been nominated for each of the two city
8 Council offices to be elected in this city; and
9 WHEREAS, section 22843.5 of the Elections Code allows one
10 of the following courses of action to be taken by the City Council:

1. Appoint to the office the person who has been
12 nominated;
13
2. Appoint to the office any eligible voter if no one
14 has been nominated;
15
3. Hold the election if either no one or only one person
16 has been nominated; and
17 WHEREAS, a notice was published on February 12, 1992, in
18 a newspaper of general circulation pursuant to law.
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
20 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: Pursuant to section 22843.5 of the Elections
22 Code of the state of California, the following persons are being
23 appointed to the offices to which they were nominated:

26 HILARIO GONZALES

Member of the City council
Four Years
Member of the City Council

SECTION 2: The election scheduled to be held on Tuesday,
28 April 14, 1992, is now cancelled.
SECTION 3: The persons appointed shall qualify and take
office and serve exactly as if elected at a municipal election for
the office.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the city of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of February, 1992.
