RESOLUTION NO. 6058
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF A CORONER FACILITY TOUR
AND AUTOPSY VIEWING INDEMNIFICATION
AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF
VERNON AND THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
DEPARTMENT OF CORONER
WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of Vernon
wishes to provide that its non-law enforcement personnel may
tour the facility of the Los Angeles County Department of
Coroner ("Coroner"), and that its law enforcement personnel may
observe autopsies and accompany the Coroner's staff personnel
during the performance of their official duties; and
WHEREAS, the Coroner is concerned with its internal
security and liability issues relating to health and safety and
confidentiality concerns; and
WHEREAS, under Government Code section 27491.4, the
Coroner has absolute discretion in allowing persons to be
present during the performance of the Coroner's autopsies; and
WHEREAS, the Coroner has requested the City of Vernon
to execute a Coroner Facility Tour and Autopsy Viewing
Indemnification Agreement in order for non-law enforcement
personnel to tour the Coroner facility or for law enforcement
personnel to view autopsies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION' 1: The City council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.

SECTION 2:
The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby approves the Coroner Facility Tour and Autopsy Viewing
Indemnification Agreement, a copy of which has been presented to
the City Council concurrently with this resolution, and the City
council hereby orders said Agreement to be received and filed by
the City Clerk.
SECTION 3: The city Council of the City of Vernon
hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute said Agreement for, and
on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk is hereby directed to return
the signed Coroner Facility Tour and Autopsy viewing
Indemnification Agreement together with a copy of this
Resolution to Edward DuConge, Department of Coroner, 1104 N.
Mission Road, Los Angeles, CA 90033.
SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of February, 1992.

Vernon, do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution, being
Resolution No. 6058, was duly adopted by the City Council of the
City of Vernon at a regular meeting of the City Council duly
held on Tuesday, February 18, 1992, and thereafter was duly
signed by the Mayor of the City of Vernon.
