A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF A ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF CONTRACT NO. 443 BY
AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF VERNON AND SIGNAL
MAINTENANCE, INC.

WHEREAS, Contract No. 443, Traffic Signal Maintenance
8
Agreement, was awarded to Signal Maintenance, Inc., by Resolution
9
No. 4830 on August 6, 1981, for a term of five years from
10

September 1, 1981 to August 31, 1986; and
WHEREAS, said contract provided for annual cost increases

based on the consumer price index and for annual extensions
l3
thereof after August 31, 1986; and

WHEREAS, said contract has been extended annually since
15
August 31, 1986, and has included cost adjustments with the last
extension approved by Resolution No. 6145 on August 4, 1992
16

waiving the Consumer Price Index adjustment for that period; and

WHEREAS, said contract will expire on August 31, 1993,
19
unless extended, and signal Maintenance, Inc. has requested a one-
20
year extension of said contract and, because of current economic
21
times, has waived the Consumer Price Index adjustment for the next
22
year; and
23
WHEREAS, the Director of community services has
24
recommended that said contract be extended and has verified that
25
Signal Maintenance, Inc., has waived the Consumer Price Index
26
adjustment for the next year.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
28
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby

finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are
3
true and correct.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
approves the Extension of Contract No. 443, a copy of which has
5
6
been presented to the City Council concurrently with this
7
resolution, and the City Council hereby orders said Extension to
8
be received and filed by the City Clerk.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute the Extension
of Contract No. 443 for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.

SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
13 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
14 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
15 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of August, 1993.
