RESOLUTION NO. 6307
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF
A WATER RIGHT LICENSE AND AGREEMENT BY AND
BETWEEN THE CITY OF VERNON AND DOMTAR GYPSUM
WHICH GRANTS THE CITY OF VERNON A LICENSE TO
EXTRACT 550 ACRE-FEET OF DOMTAR GYPSUM'S ALLOWED
PUMPING ALLOCATION FOR THE PERIOD JULY 1, 1993
THROUGH JUNE 30, 1994
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon and DOMTAR GYPSUM (DOMTAR) have
into annual agreements since 1991 providing for the City to

lease 550 acre-feet of DOMTAR's allowed pumping allocation; and

WHEREAS, the Interim Director of Community Services and
DOMTAR have negotiated a new Water Right License and Agreement with

an agreed price for the period of July 1, 1993 through June 30, 1994
14
of One Hundred Seven Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-six Dollars and
15

Fifty Cents ($107,926.50); and
WHEREAS, the leasing of ground water will help the City of
17
Vernon to offset some of the cost of Metropolitan Water District
18
water which the City purchases.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
20

CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the city of Vernon hereby
22

finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are
true and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
25
26
approves the Water Right License and Agreement, a copy of which has
been presented to the City
Council
concurrently with this
27
resolution, and the City Council hereby orders said License and
28
Agreement to be received and filed by the City Clerk.

SECTION 3: The City Council of the city of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said License and
Agreement for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 4:
The City Clerk of the city of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
