A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON COMMENDING MEL WILES FOR HIS MANY YEARS
OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF VERNON

WHEREAS, MEL WILES has been employed by the City of
7
Vernon since June 1, 1964; and
8
WHEREAS, MEL WILES will retire from the service of the
9
City of Vernon on February 17, 1994; and

WHEREAS, MEL WILES was hired by the City of Vernon as a
Firefighter in the Vernon Fire Department on June 1, 1964,
advanced to the position of Engineer on July 6, 1986, and advanced
to a Captain on May 21, 1989; and
WHEREAS, MEL WILES has faithfully served the City of
Vernon for approximately 30 years, and his loss will be deeply
felt by the City of Vernon.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon takes

this opportunity to commend MEL WILES for his many years of
devoted service to the City of Vernon.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon wishes

MEL WILES continued success in whatever endeavors he may
24
undertake.

SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution and present a certified
