RESOLUTION NO. 6436
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON ESTABLISHING THE RATES FOR THE SALE OF
WATER IN THE CITY OF VERNON IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE VERNON CITY CODE AND REPEALING RESOLUTION
NOS. 6203 AND 6256
WHEREAS, Vernon City Code sections 25.1, 25.2, 25.3, 25.5,

25.48 and 25.51 provide that the rates for the sale of water
in the City are to be set by resolution; and

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted

effective for the regular billing of July, 1993; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 6256 repealed Resolution No. 6194
(adopted May 19, 1992), but did not repeal an amendment thereto

pertaining to the rates for reclaimed water; and
WHEREAS, victor H. Vaits, Interim Director of Community
Services, has recommended by memo dated May 10, 1994, that the rates
established for water services be raised to reflect the increased

cost of providing said services and that the adjusted rates become
effective for regular billing for July, 1994; and

WHEREAS, the Finance Committee on May 16, 1994 recommended
22
that the proposed rate changes be approved by the City Council; and
23
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes to
24
establish new rates for the sale of water in the City of Vernon in
25
accordance with the Vernon City Code and to repeal Resolution No.
26
6256.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the city of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove
are true and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the city of Vernon does
hereby establish the rates for the sale of water in the City of
Vernon pursuant to Vernon City Code Sections 25.1, 25.2, 25.3, 25.5,
25.46, 25.48 and 25.51 as follows:
1. Water Rates Per 100 Cubic Feet For Vernon 1 (V.C.C.
Sec. 25.1) and Vernon 2 (CMD. V.C.C. Sec. 25.46):
Vernon 1 $0.97/100 cubic feet
Vernon 2 $0.99/100 cubic feet
2. Monthlv Minimum Charqe For Zero Consumption for
Consumers Generallv for Vernon 1 (V.C.C. Sec. 25.2)
and Vernon 2 (CMD. V.C.C. Sec. 25.47). and for
Reclaimed Water:

shown in Item 1 and shall be payable semiannually.
5. Water Rates Per 100 Cubic Feet Of Reclaimed Water For
Vernon 1 and Vernon 2 (CMD) (V.C.C. Sec. 25.9):
Vernon 1 $0.97/100 cubic feet
Vernon 2 $0.97/100 cubic feet
6. Minimum Rates For Fire Protection Purposes For
Vernon 2 (CMD. V.C.C. Sec. 25.48) (each person.
firm or corporation):
Sprinkler Charqe
(per sprinkler head) $0.90/head per year
7. Vernon 2 (CMD) Sewer Charge (v.c.c. Sec. 25.49):
A monthly sewer maintenance charge for Vernon 2 (CMD) has
been established by Vernon City Code Section 25.49 and
will be added to the water bill. These rates are set
forth herein for information only.

SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
that the applicable rates contained in this resolution
shall be effective for the first regular water reading for monthly
billing purposes in the month of July, 1994.

SECTION 4: Effective July 1, 1994, Resolution Nos. 6203

and 6256 are repealed.
SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall

certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
