RESOLUTION NO. 6437
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCR.
OF THE CITY OF VERNON COlVIMENDING
VICTOR H. VAITS FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF
SERVICE TO THE CITY OF VERNON
WHEREAS, VICTOR H. VAITS has been employed by the City of
Vernon since November 11, 1960; and
WHEREAS, VICTOR H. VAITS was first hired by the City of
Vernon as an assistant civil engineer, advanced to the positions of civil
engineer, and Deputy Director and on September 1, 1983, was promoted
to the position of Director of the Community Services Department; and
WHEREAS, VICTOR H. VAITS also assumed responsibility for
the water division of the City of Vernon on March 1, 1990; and
WHEREAS, VICTOR H. VAITS was responsible for the
development of the Redevelopment Project Area for the Redevelopment
r.."

Agency of the City of Vernon, which was recently approved by the Los
Angeles Superior Court; and
WHEREAS, VICTOR H. VAITS has made substantial
contributions to the development of the Alameda Corridor Project; and
WHEREAS, VICTOR H. VAITS serves as the Traffic Engineer and
the City Engineer for the City of Vernon; and
WHEREAS, VICTOR H. VAITS has performed his services as
Director of Community Services in an exemplary manner demonstrating his
administrative ability in one of the most demanding management positions
in the City of Vernon, which includes the supervision of approximately 80
City employees engaged in planning, building, engineering, public works
and water functions; and
WHEREAS, VICTOR H. VAITS retired from the service of the
City of Vernon on August 3, 1993, but has been serving the City of Vernon
in the capacity of Interim Director of Community Services pursuant to an
Agreement for Contractual Services until June 30, 1994; and
WHEREAS, VICTOR H. VAITS has supported Vernon service
organizations and has served as the President of the Vernon Lions Club

during 1991-92 and has served as the President of the International
Conference for Building Officials during 1989; and
WHEREAS, VICTOR H. VAITS has faithfully served the City of
Vernon for approximately 33 years, and his loss will be deeply felt by the
City of Vernon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon takes this
opportunity to commend VICTOR H. VAITS for his many years of devoted
service to the City of Vernon.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
wishes VICTOR H. VAITS continued success in whatever endeavors he
may undertake.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon shall certify
to the passage of this resolution and present a certified copy thereof to
VICTOR H. VAITS and that thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in
full force and effect.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify
