RESOLUTION NO. 6446
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON ACCEPTING THE BID OF SPIESS CONSTRUCTION
COMPANY FOR REHABILITATION OF RESERVOIR 2-3 IN
ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 523 OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF SAID
CONTRACT
WHEREAS, Contract No. 523 of the City of Vernon
was approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon
pursuant to Resolution No. 6416, and sealed bids were opened
on May 17, 1994; and
WHEREAS, said bids were referred to victor H.
Vaits, Interim Director of community Services, who has
reported to the City Council under the date of June 1, 1994,
recommending that Contract No. 523 for Rehabilitation of
Reservoir 2-3 be executed with Spiess Construction Company
on the basis of its bid in the sum of Two Hundred six
Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty-three Dollars ($206,783.00),
being the lowest responsible bid meeting the contract
requirements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
does hereby award Contract No. 523 to Spiess Construction
Company, in accordance with the recommendation of
Victor H. Vaits, Interim Director of Community Services, and
authorizes the Mayor to execute said Contract on behalf of

the city.
SECTION 3: All other bids are rejected subject to
execution of the contract and the City Treasurer is hereby
directed to return unsuccessful bidders any cashier or
certified checks deposited with said bids upon the receipt
of an executed contract from Spiess Construction Company
accompanied by all required bonds and certificates.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution and
thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of June, 1994.
