A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF A ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF CONTRACT NO. 478 BY
AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF VERNON AND R.F. DICKSON
COMPANY, INC.

WHEREAS, Contract No. 478, Street Sweeping, was awarded
to R.F. Dickson Company, Inc., by Resolution No. 5347 on December
7
9, 1986, for a term of three years from January 1, 1987 to
8
December 31, 1989, which has been extended annually since December
9
31, 1989; and

WHEREAS, said contract provides for annual percentage
adjustments in the bid price based on seventy-five percent (75%)
12
13
of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) as published on January 1 of
each year for such annual extensions after December 31, 1989, and
14
R. F. Dickson Company, Inc. has waived the CPI increase for the
15

last two years; and
WHEREAS, the last extension of said contract was approved
by Resolution No. 6359 on December 7, 1993; and
18
WHEREAS, said Contract will expire on December 31, 1994,
19
unless extended, and R.F. Dickson Company, Inc. has requested a
20
one-year extension of said contract until December 31, 1995, and
21
with a percentage adjustment in the bid price in accordance with
22
the Consumer Price Index cumulatively for three years; and
23
WHEREAS, the Acting Director of Community Services has
24
recommended that said contract be extended, has ascertained that
25
the cumulative percentage adjustment in the bid price from the
contract years 1993 and 1994 would be an increase of 4.7%, with a
26
27
relatively minor additional adjustment based on the CPI for

January 1, 1995, and has verified that there will be no

retroactive increase for the 1993 and 1994 contracts.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
6
hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove
7
are true and correct.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
approves the Extension of Contract No. 478 for 1995 with R.F.
9

Dickson Company, Inc., a copy of which has been presented to the
City Council concurrently with this resolution, and the city
Council hereby orders said Extension to be received and filed by
12
13
the City Clerk.

SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
15 authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said Extension
16 for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
17
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
18 certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
19 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
