A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 5994 WHICH
ADOPTED AN EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR
CITY EMPLOYEES

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted
Resolution No. 5994 on September 23, 1991, which adopted an

Educational Assistance Program; and
9
WHEREAS, the Finance Committee on December 13, 1994,
10

recommended that the City Council approve an increase to the
tuition reimbursement for all city employees to $1,500 per fiscal
12
year upon completion of their one year probationary period
13
effective January 1995 because of the continuing fee increases of
14
State Universities and Colleges; and
15
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires
16
to amend Resolution 5994 to change the present tuition
17
reimbursement of $1,000 per fiscal year to $1,500.
18
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
19
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The city Council of the City of Vernon does
21
hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove
22
are true and correct.

SECTION 2: Effective January 1995, the city Council of
24
the City of Vernon hereby amends Resolution No. 5994 so that all

references to the educational assistance program for City
27
employees providing up to $1,000 per fiscal year per employee for
tuition, fees and textbooks for jOb-related courses be changed
28
from $1,000 to $1,500 per fiscal year upon City employees
1
completing their one year probationary period.

SECTION 3: In all other respects, Resolution No. 5994 as
3 shall remain in full force and effect, and the provisions of said
4 Resolution not consistent with or in conflict with this resolution
5 are hereby repealed.

SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the city of Vernon shall
7 certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
8 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of December, 1994.

the Mayor of the City of Vernon.
