A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZrNG THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY
FROM THE LIGHT AND POWER DEPARTMENT AND THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.31 OF THE
VERNON CITY CODE

WHEREAS, Bruce V. Ma1kenhorst, Director of Finance, by

letter dated January 9, 1995, recommended to the Finance Committee
8
that the property from the following departments be declared
9
surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items are
10 obsolete, inoperable, or in poor and irreparable condition and are
11 therefor no longer useful to the needs of the City of Vernon:

1.
Light and Power Department, which property is
13 more particularly described on Exhibit "A", which is attached
14 hereto and made a part hereof by reference;
15
2 .
Fire Department, which property. is more
16 particularly described on Exhibit "B", which is attached hereto
17 and made a part hereof by reference; and
18
WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Purchasing Agent, has
19 recommended that the said surplus property described in the
20 attached Exhibits "A" and "B" be disposed of by public auction;
21 and
22
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
23 determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon
24 that the property described in the attached Exhibits "A" and "B"
25 be sold as surplus property pursuant to section 2.31 of the Vernon
26 City Code.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

1 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
3 hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove
4 are true and correct.
5
SECTION 2: In accordance with section 37350 of the
6 Government Code of the State of California, the City Council of
7 the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the property
8 described in the attached Exhibits "A" and "B" is surplus to the
9 needs of the City of Vernon.

SECTION 3: The City Administrator/City clerk is hereby
11 authorized to contract with an auction company for the sale of the
12 property described in the attached Exhibits "A" and "B" as surplus
13 property.

SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
15 certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
16 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
