A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE REALLOCATION OF REVENUE
GENERATED BY SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS PROPOSITION
OF 1992 TO THE CITY OF LYNWOOD FOR MAINTAINING
AND SERVICING THE MERVYN DYMALLY PARK
REHABILITATION PROJECT OR OTHER QUALIFIED

WHEREAS, Los Angeles County enacted the Safe Neighborhood

Parks Proposition of 1992 which provides funds to incorporated
cities of Los Angeles County for maintaining and servicing
facilities for public recreation; and

WHEREAS, Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space
District has been delegated the responsibility for the necessary
12
13
procedures governing applications by local agencies under the
14
program; and
15
16
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon does not have any current
program to use the 1993-1994 and 1994-1995 allocations for
17
maintaining and servicing facilities for public recreation; and
18
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has parks and recreation
19
facilities which benefit the residents of the surrounding area,
20
including the City of Vernon; and
21
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has communicated that it is
willing to accept the funds allocated to the city of Vernon and
22

use them for maintaining and servicing the Mervyn Dymally Park
Rehabilitation Project which will benefit residents of all
24
25

surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County has authorized the transfer
to a neighboring community of approximately $3,807.88 per year in

maintenance and servicing funds allocated to the city of Vernon

under the Safe Neighborhood Parks proposition of 1992.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the city of Vernon hereby
6
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are
7
true and correct.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes Los Angeles County to pay the City of Vernon its
allocation of the maintenance and servicing funds for 1993-1994
9

and 1994-1995 (anticipated to be $3,807.88 per year) to the City
of Lynwood for use in the Mervyn Dymally Park Rehabilitation
13
Project or in any other qualified parks and recreation program.

SECTION 3: The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy
of this resolution to the Los Angeles County Regional Park and
15
16
Open Space District, 433 South Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA
17
90020-1975.

SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
19
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
20
21
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of April, 1995.
