A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 6651 BY AMENDING
SECTION 8 OF SAID RESOLUTION WHICH FIXED THE
COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY
AND AUTHORIZED CERTAIN EXPENSE ALLOWANCES

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 6651 was adopted by the City
7
Council of the City of Vernon on June 27, 1995, to be effective on
8
July 1, 1995; and
9
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted

Resolution No. 6656 on July 11, 1995, which approved a Third Side-
Letter Agreement between the Municipal Employees Relations
II

Representative and the Vernon Police Officers' Benefit Association
13
amending the Memorandum of Understanding previously adopted by
14
Resolution No. 5489 on March 15, 1988, as amended by a Side-Letter
15
16
Agreement adopted by Resolution No. 6001 on January 21, 1992 and
Second Side-Letter Agreement adopted by Resolution No. 6258 on
17
October 5, 1993; and
18
WHEREAS, the Third Side-Letter Agreement provided for, in
19
part, a modified longevity program effective July 1, 1995; and
20
WHEREAS, Section 8 of Resolution No. 6651 needs to be
21
modified in order to be in compliance with the provisions of the
22
23
Third Side-Letter Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the amendment to Section 8 was inadvertently
24
omitted from Resolution No. 6670, adopted by the city Council on
25
26
August 15, 1995, which amended Resolution No. 6651 to comply with
the modifications made by the Third Side-Letter Agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
4 hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove
5 are true and correct.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
7 amends the introductory paragraph of section 8, page 8, of
8 Resolution No. 6651 to read as follows:

SECTION 8:
LONGEVITY PROGRAM FOR EMPLOYEES
EMPLOYED ON OR BEFORE JUNE 30,
1 994.

The City has established a longevity program for all
employees.
The longevity program described in section 8 herein

will apply to all employees, except police employees in Group 2,
15

employed on or before June 30, 1994.
Said longevity program will
also apply to such police employees in Group 2 employed on or
17
before June 30, 1995.
Thereafter, all employees, except police
18
employees in Group 2, employed on or after July 1, 1994, and,
19
police employees in Group 2 employed on or after July 1, 1995,
shall only be entitled to longevity benefits provided for in
20
Section 9.

SECTION 3: In all other respects, Resolution No. 6651,
23
as amended by Resolution No. 6670, shall remain in full force and
24
25
effect, and the provisions of Resolution Nos. 6651 and 6670 not
consistent with or in conflict with this resolution are hereby
26
repealed.
