" 1 RESOLUTION NO. 6694 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN CITY RECORDS, DOCUMENTS, INSTRUMENTS, BOOKS AND PAPERS, PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 34090 3 4 5 WHEREAS, the City Council by Resolution No. 6138 on July 6 21, 1992, adopted a City of Vernon Retention Schedule as a guide for Department Heads in determining when to destroy obsolete records; 7 8 and 9 WHEREAS, the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, by letter 10 da ted September 25, 1995, has recommended that certa.in records, 11 documents, instruments, books and papers under his charge and under 12 the charge of other department heads be destroyed; and 13 WHEREAS, the City Council of the city of Vernon finds that 14 none of the records as set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto and 15 made a part hereof by reference (1) affect the title to real 16 property, or liens thereon, (2) are court records, (3) are records 17 required to be kept by statute, or (4) are original minutes, 18 ordinances, or resolutions of the legislative body of the City of 19 Vernon; and 20 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that all such records are 21 more than two (2) years old; and WHEREAS, the written consent of the City Attorney and the 22 23 heads of each appropriate City Department to the destruction of such 24 records have been obtained. 25 26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: 27 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 28 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are , '. .. 1 true and correct. 2 SECTION 2: The City council of the city of Vernon hereby 3 authorizes the destruction by the department head in charge of said 4 records without making a copy thereof. 5 6 that the same are no longer required for any purposes of the City of SECTION 3: The City Council of the city of Vernon finds 7 Vernon. 8 . 9 has given his written consent to the destruction of those certain SECTION 4: The City council finds that the City Attorney 10 records described in Exhibit A, said written consent is attached 11 hereto and made a part hereof. 12 SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the city of Vernon shall 13 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and 14 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. 15 16 17 18 ATTEST: 19 ~ 20 BRUCE V. 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of October, 1995. .~p~{?~"<U~ " E~NIS C.
