A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON (1) AMENDING SECTION 8 OF RESOLUTION 6651
BY AMENDING SUBSECTION (g) THEREOF AND ADDING
SUBSECTION (h) TO SAID SECTION; (2) AMENDING
SCHEDULE II, EXHIBIT "B", PAGE 15 OF RESOLUTION
NO. 6651; AND (3) AMENDING SECTION 25,
SUBSECTIONS (e)(7) AND (e) (13), OF RESOLUTION
NO. 6651 WHICH FIXED THE COMPENSATION FOR
CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY AND AUTHORIZED
CERTAIN EXPENSE ALLOWANCES

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 6651 was adopted by the City

Council of the City of Vernon on June 27, 1995, to be effective on
July 1, 1995; and
13
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
considered the performance of the City Administrator/City Clerk on
14
his annual review date for the purposes of considering a merit
15

increase; and
WHEREAS, Schedule II, Exhibit "B", page 15 of Resolution
No. 6651 provides for the position and salary scale of the City
Administrator/City Clerk in the city Administrator/City Clerk
19
Department; and
WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Vernon intends
20
21
to establish a new salary scale to provide for a merit increase
22
for the position of city Administrator/City Clerk in the City
Administrator/City Clerk Department and to provide for additional
23
24
benefits as set forth herein.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove

are true and correct.
SECTION 2: Effective october 15, 1995, Section 25,
subsections (e) (7), of Resolution No. 6651 is amended to read as
follows:
(7) VACATION.
six (6) additional vacation days in addition to
the vacation benefits provided for pursuant to
Resolution No. 5645.
SECTION 3: Effective october 15, 1995, section 25
subsection (e) (13) of Resolution No. 6651 is hereby amended to
read as follows:
(13) LIFE INSURANCE.
The City shall pay the cost of a life insurance policy to
equal the sum of $500,000.00.
SECTION 4: Effective October 15, 1995, Schedule II,
Exhibit "B", page 15 of Resolution No. 6651 is hereby amended to
establish the salary scale for the position of City
Administrator/City Clerk in the City Administrator/City Clerk
Department as indicated on the amended page 15 of Schedule II,
Exhibit "B", which is attached hereto as Attachment A and made a
part hereof.
SECTION 5: Effective October 15, 1995, section 8 shall
be amended by modifying subsection (g) and adding subsection (h)
of Resolution No. 6651 to read as follows:
(g) Twenty-Five (25) Years of Service - City Administrator.
The City Administrator shall be eligible upon reaching

twenty-five (25) years of consecutive uninterrupted service after

October 15, 1995, to receive an additional twenty-five percent
3
(25%) of his base salary per month upon reaching his 25th
anniversary date and shall be entitled to said twenty-five percent
(25%) per month upon said anniversary date and every year
4

thereafter.

(h) Compensation Not Cumulative.
8
PaYment of the aforesaid longevity compensation shall not
9
be cumulative and only the highest applicable longevity pay shall
10
be paid.

SECTION 6: In all other respects, Resolution No. 6651,
as amended by Resolution Nos. 6670, 6671, and 6696, shall remain
in full force and effect, and the provisions of Resolution Nos.
6651, 6670, 6671, and 6696 not consistent with or in conflict with
this resolution are hereby repealed.
SECTION 7: The City Clerk of the city of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and

thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
