Resolution No. 6730 ., '" I RESOLUTION NO. 6730 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON COMMENDING CURTIS L. KIRKLAND, SENIOR ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN IN THE LIGHT AND POWER DEPARTMENT, FOR HIS EXEMPLARY SERVICES TO THE CITY OF VERNON DURING 1994 4 5 6 WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Vernon by 7 Resolution No. 6355 adopted on November 23, 1993, adopted a Superior Performance and Ideas Resulting in Tangible Savings 8 9 ("SPIRITS") Program to recognize the value of employees of the 10 II 12 13 City of Vernon who strive to give superior performance and/or who develop innovative ideas with cost savings to the City by the presentation of various types of awards; and WHEREAS, in accordance with said SPIRITS program, the 14 Superior Performance awards are given based on an employee's 15 16 17 previous annual evaluation of outstanding performance utilizing a three-tier level selection process; and WHEREAS, Level 1 of the selection process consists of 18 recommendations made to the respective Department Heads of the names of outstanding employees and awards being made by the 19 20 21 Department Head at their discretion to said employee based on the awards set forth in the SPIRITS program; and 22 23 24 25 26 WHEREAS, an awards committee selects a Department award recipient from the recipients of Level 1 awards; and WHEREAS, by letter dated November 29, 1995, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Clerk, advised the City Council that the Light and Power Department had selected curtis L. Kirkland, Senior 27 Electronics Technician to receive the SPIRITS 1994 ANNUAL 28 - ~ I DEPARTMENT AWARD (Level 2); and 2 WHEREAS, in order to advance to Level 3 of said selection 3 process an awards committee composed of Department Heads and/or 4 their designees selects one annual SPIRITS City award recipient 5 from the recipients of Level 2 awards; and 6 WHEREAS, Curtis L. Kirkland, Senior Electronics 7 Technician in the Light and Power Department, has demonstrated a 8 high degree of initiative and skill such that the awards committee 9 has selected him to receive the SPIRITS 1994 ANNUAL CITY AWARD IO II 12 (Level 3) in recognition of his excellent and superior performanoe; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes to express its appreciation and gratitude to curtis L. Kirkland for his exemplary services to the City. 13 14 15 16 17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City council of the City of Vernon hereby 18 expresses its appreciation and gratitude to Curtis L. Kirkland for 19 his exemplary services to the City of Vernon. 20 SECTION 2: The city Clerk of the city of Vernon shall 21 certify to the passage of this resolution and present a certified 22 copy thereof to Curtis L.
