A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON SUPPORTING NEW LOS ANGELES MARKETING
PARTNERSHIP'S FIVE-YEAR REGIONAL MARKETING
CAMPAIGN TO PROMOTE THE ECONOMIC VITALITY OF THE
LOS ANGELES REGION

WHEREAS, the New Los Angeles Marketing partnership
(NLAMP) is a coalition of the Los Angeles region's premier
8
business, government and community leaders who have united in an
unprecedented partnership to promote the entire region's diverse

economic and cultural facts; and
WHEREAS, image matters and the negative images of Los
Angeles during the first half of this decade have had a measurable
economic impact on the entire region; and
WHEREAS, NLAMP's mission is to create high-growth and

high-wage jobs and opportunities for residents and business
leaders in all of Los Angeles County's 88 cities to create a more

"business-friendly" climate; and

WHEREAS, NLAMP will move to combine the unique financial
and cultural resources of the entire region to strengthen the

region's economy and expand opportunities for all residents; and
WHEREAS, cities throughout Los Angeles County have been

asked to contribute their Top 10 positive economic and cultural
facts to the NLAMP campaign; and
WHEREAS, NLAMP has launched a Call to Action to encourage

government, industry and community leaders to say something
positive about their city to family, friends and co-workers.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City council of the City of Vernon does

hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove
5

are true and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
7
supports the five-year regional marketing campaign of NLAMP to
promote the economic vitality of the Los Angeles region by
8
9
communicating the positive facts about the Los Angeles region to

residents and businesses throughout Southern California and, over
time, to the nation and world.

SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
l3 directs the City Administrator to forward a copy of this
l4 resolution to NLAMP, 515 S. Flower Street, 32nd Floor, Los
l5 Angeles, CA 90071.

SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and

thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
