A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
APPLICATION REQUESTING THE LOCAL AGENCY
FORMATION COMMISSION TO TAKE PROCEEDINGS FOR
THE "REORGANIZATION 1-96, PARCELS 1 AND 2"
INVOLVING THE CITIES OF VERNON AND MAYWOOD

WHEREAS, the City of Vernon desires to initiate
proceedings pursuant to the Cortese-Knox Local Government
Reorganization Act of 1985, commencing with Section 56000 of the
California Government Code, for the reorganization proposal
identified as "Reorganization 1-96, Parcels 1 and 2"; and

WHEREAS, Government Code Section 56551 authorizes the
City of Vernon to file a resolution of application in order to
initiate proceedings for reorganization by the Local Agency
13

Formation Commission of Los Angeles County; and
WHEREAS, notice of intent to adopt this resolution of
17
application has been given each subject agency; and
WHEREAS, all of the landowners have consented in writing
18
19
to the reorganization; and
20

WHEREAS, the territories proposed to be annexed and
detached are uninhabited, and a description of the boundaries of
22
23
each territory is set forth in Exhibit "A" and a map of the
boundaries is set forth in Exhibit "B", each of which is attached
24
hereto and made a part hereof by reference; and
25
WHEREAS, this proposal is not consistent with the
26
spheres of influence of the affected cities.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF

THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
2 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
3 hereinabove are true and COrrect.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
5 hereby requests the Local Agency Formation Commission of Los
6 Angeles County to take proceedings for the exchange of territories
7 between the Cities of Vernon and Maywood as described in Exhibits
8 "A" and "B", according to the terms and conditions stated above
9 and in the manner provided by the Cortese-Knox Local Government
10 Reorganization Act of 1985.

SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
12 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
13 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
14 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of February, 1996.

ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF VERNON, DETACHMENT FROM
THE CITY OF MAYWOOD AND CONSOLIDATED FIRE
PROTECTION DISTRICT OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY
Beginning at the northwest corner of Lot 2678 of
Tract No. 5953, as shown on Map filed in Book 65, Page 98
of Maps, in the office of the Recorder of the County of
Los Angeles, said corner being a point in the common
boundary between the City of Maywood and the City of
Vernon as same existed on October 17, 1995; thence south
7033' 15" west 135 feet along westerly line of said lot to
southwest corner of said Lot, said corner being a point
in the northerly line of Fifty Second Street, 60 feet
wide, as shown on said tract map; thence north 82047'15"
west 400.56 feet along said northerly line of Fifty
Second Street to centerline of Cudahy Avenue, 50 feet
wide, as shown on said tract; thence north 7033'15" east
135 feet along said centerline to said common boundary
line between the City of Vernon and the City of Maywood;
thence south 82047'15" east 400.66 feet along said common
boundary line to the point of beginning.

ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF MAYWOOD AND
CONSOLIDATED FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT OF LOS ANGELES
COUNTY, DETACHMENT FROM THE CITY OF VERNON
Beginning at the northeast corner of Lot 2692 of
Tract No. 5953, as shown on Map filed in Book 65, Page 98
of Maps, in the office of the Recorder of. the County of
Los Angeles, said corner being a point in the southerly
line of District Boulevard 100 feet wide, as shown on Map
filed in Book 84, Pages 58 and 59 of Record of Survey, in
the office of said Recorder, and the common boundary
between the City of Vernon and the City of Maywood as
same existed on January 17, 1996; thence southeasterly
along said southerly line of District Boulevard to the
westerly line of Atlantic Boulevard (formerly known as
Pasadena Avenue) 80 feet wide; thence southwesterly along
said westerly line to the intersection of said westerly
line and the prolongation of centerline of Fifty-Second
Drive (now known as 52nd Drive), 50 feet wide, as shown
on Map of Tract No. 7923 filed in Book 113, Pages 80
through 83 inclusive of said Maps; thence southeasterly
along said centerline of 52nd Street to the intersection
of the common boundary between the Ci ty of Vernon and the
City of Maywood as same existed on January 17, 1996;
thence southwesterly along said common boundary to
southerly line of Fifty-Second Drive; thence
northwesterly along said common boundary to the southwest
corner of Lot 2701 of said Tract No. 5953; thence
northeasterly along common boundary to the northwest
corner of Lot 2699 of said Tract No. 5953; thence
northwesterly along said common boundary line to the
southeast corner of Lot 2692 of said trac.t; thence
