' 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 RESOLUTION NO. 6756 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON COMMENDING JAMES WOHLT, A SERGEANT IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, FOR HIS EXEMPLARY SERVICES TO THE CITY OF VERNON DURING 1995 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon by Resolution No. 6355 adopted on November 23, 1993, adopted a Superior Performance and Ideas Resulting in Tangible Savings ("SPIRITS") Program to recognize the value of employees of the City of Vernon who strive to give superior performance and/or who develop innovative ideas with cost savings to the City by the presentation of various types of awards; and WHEREAS, in accordance with said SPIRITS program, the Superior Performance awards are given based on an employee's previous annual evaluation of outstanding performance utilizing a three-tier level selection process; and WHEREAS, Level 1 of the selection process consists of recommendations made to the respective Department Heads of the names of outstanding employees and awards being made by the Department Head at their discretion to said employee based on the awards set forth in the SPIRITS program; and WHEREAS, an awards committee selects a Department award recipient from the recipients of Level 1 awards; and 25 WHEREAS, by letter dated February 1, 1996, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Clerk, advised the City Council that the Police Department had selected James Wohlt, Sergeant, to receive the 26 27 SPIRITS 1995 ANNUAL DEPARTMENT AWARD (Level 2); and 28 WHEREAS, in order to advance to Level 3 of said selection 1 process an awards committee composed of Department Heads and/or 2 their designees selects one annual SPIRITS City award recipient 3 from the recipients of Level 2 awards; and 4 WHEREAS, James Wohlt, Sergeant in the Police Department, 5 has demonstrated a high degree of initiative and skill such that the awards committee has selected him to receive the SPIRITS 1995 6 7 ANNUAL CITY AWARD (Level 3) in recognition of his excellent and 8 superior performance; and 9 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes to express its appreciation and gratitude to James Wohlt for his exemplary services to the City. 10 11 12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: 13 14 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 15 expresses its appreciation and gratitude to James Wohlt for his 16 exemplary services to the City of Vernon. 17 SECTION 2: The City Clerk of the city of Vernon shall 18 certify to the passage of this resolution and present a certified 19 copy thereof to James Wohlt and thereupon and thereafter the same 20 shall be in full force and effect. 21 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of February, 1996. /~~~d."~i1~' 22 23 24 A^: 25 BRUCE V.
