A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO MAKE AND
DELIVER A CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION TO COUNCIL
MEMBERS HILARIO GONZALES AND WILLIAM DAVIS AND TO
ADMINISTER THE OATH OF OFFICE

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon by
Resolution No. 6747 on February 6, 1996, appointed Hilario Gonzales
and William Davis members of the city Council to serve a term of

four (4) years, all in accordance with Section 2.90 of the Vernon

City Code and section 10229 of the Elections Code of the State of
California; and
WHEREAS, the election scheduled for April 9, 1996, was
therefore cancelled; and
WHEREAS, section 10229 of the Elections Code provides, in
part, as follows:
fl. . .The person appointed, if any, shall qualify
and take office and serve exactly as if elected
at a municipal election for the office. . .
"
l8 WHEREAS, section 10265 of the Elections Code requires that
19 the City Clerk sign and deliver a certificate of Election and
20 administer the oath of office.
21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
22 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1 :
The City Clerk shall immediately make and
24 deliver to Hilario Gonzales and william Davis a certificate of
25 Election signed by the City Clerk and duly authenticated.

The City Clerk shall administer to Hilario
SECTION 2:
27 Gonzales and William Davis the oath of office prescribed in the
28

state Constitution of the state of California and shall have them
2
subscribe thereto and file the same in the office of the City Clerk,
3
whereupon, Mr. Gonzales and Mr. Davis shall be inducted into the
4
respective office to which they have been elected.

SECTION 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
6 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
7
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
8
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of April, 1996.

do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution, being Resolution
No. 6771, was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Vernon
at a regular meeting of the City Council duly held on Tuesday,
April 16, 1996, and thereafter was duly signed by the Mayor of the
City of Vernon.
