2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
3 EXECUTION OF A LETTER AGREEMENT TERMINATING
THE PALO VERDE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION
4 TRANSMISSION SERVICE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF VERNON AND DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND
5 POWER OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES
6 WHEREAS, the City of Vernon owns a share of the power
7 generation from the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating station in
8 Arizona; and
9 WHEREAS, for transmission between Nevada and Southern
10 California the City of Vernon has used the facilities of Los
11 Angeles pursuant to the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating station
12 Transmission Service Agreement between the City of Vernon and the
13 Department of Water and Power of the City of Los Angeles dated
14 September 10, 1981; and
15 WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has ownership interests in
16 the Mead-Phoenix Project and the Mead-Adelanto Project which
17 proviqe an alternate path for the transmission of such energy; and
18 WHEREAS, the use of the transmission facilities of the
19 City of Los Angeles are no longer needed for such purpose; and
20 WHEREAS, the parties have prepared a Letter Agreement
21 terminating said Agreement.
22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
23 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
25 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
26 hereinabove are true and correct.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
28 hereby approves the Letter Agreement by and between the City of

1 Vernon and the Department of Water and Power of the City of Los
2 Angeles, the original of which has been presented to the City
3 Council concurrently herewith, and the City Council hereby orders
4 said Agreement to be received and filed by the City Clerk.

SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon
6 hereby authorizes the Mayor and the city Clerk to execute said
7 Agreement for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.

SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
9 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
10 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
11 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of April, 1996.
