RESOLUTION NO. 6790

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON REJECTING THE BIDS RECEIVED FOR
CONTRACT NO. 531 OF THE CITY OF VERNON FOR
VERNON AVENUE SEWER REHABILITATION

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon by
6
Resolution No. 6770 approved Contract No. 531 for Vernon Avenue
7
Sewer Rehabilitation and directed the City Clerk to give notice
8
inviting sealed proposals therefor; and
9
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received and were opened May
10
1, 1996 as follows:

Sancon Engineering, Inc.
$42,938.94
12
Insituform Southwest
$97,442.40;
and
13
14
WHEREAS, the bid for Sancon Engineering, Inc. was based
15
on an alternative method of sewer rehabilitation instead of the
16
method called for in the contract specifications; and
17
WHEREAS, the bid price by Insituform Southwest was
18
almost double the engineer's estimate; and
19
WHEREAS, the Director of Community Service and Water has
20
recommended that all bids received be rejected in order to give
21
the department the opportunity to review and redraft Contract No.
22
531 and to resubmit it to the City council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon
23

that all bids received for said contract be rejected.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained

hereinabove are true and correct.

Vernon Avenue Sewer Rehabilitation, are hereby rejected by the
SECTION 2: The bids received for Contract No. 531,

City Council of the City of Vernon.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall

certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
7
8
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
