RESOLUTION NO. 6796

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA
INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD FOR AN
ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE GRANT

WHEREAS, funds have been established by Public Resources
6
Code section 43230, and are available from the Integrated Waste
7
Management Account through the California Integrated Waste
8
Management Board for grants to Local Enforcement Agencies to
9
support solid waste facilities permit and inspection programs; and
10
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon Health Department has been
appointed as the solid waste Local Enforcement Agency for the City
11
12
of Vernon and is eligible for an Enforcement Assistance Grant from
13
the California Integrated Waste Management Board for up to
$15,000.00; and
14

WHEREAS, in order to receive the Enforcement Assistance
16
Grant it was necessary to submit the application by May 31, 1996;
17
and
18
WHEREAS, the Director of Environmental Health has
19
recommended that the City Council ratify and approve the
20
application filed on May 23, 1996, for funds in the amount of
21
$8,860.00 for equipment and training expenses.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
23
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
25 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
26 hereinabove are true and correct.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
28
hereby ratifies and approves the application for an Enforcement

Assistance Grant in the amount of $8,860.00 which was filed with
the California Integrated Waste Management Board on May 23, 1996,
a copy of which has been presented to the City council
concurrently with this resolution, and the City Council hereby
orders said Application to be received and filed by the City
Clerk.
SECTION 3: The City Council hereby authorizes and
directs the City Administrator to act on the City's behalf in all
matters pertaining to said Application.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of June, 1996.
