RESOLUTION NO. 6802
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING CONTRACT NO. 531 (REVISED) OF
THE CITY OF VERNON FOR VERNON AVENUE SEWER
REHABILITATION AND AUTHORIZING NOTICE INVITING
SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH.
5 WHEREAS, the City Council by Resolution No. 6770
6 on April 2, 1996, approved Contract No. 531, Vernon Avenue
7 Sewer Rehabilitation and called for bids; and
8 WHEREAS, the only qualified bid received
9 substantially exceeded the engineer's estimate and as a
10 result all bids were rejected by City Council Resolution No.
11 6790 on May 7, 1996; and
12 WHEREAS, the specifications for Vernon Avenue
13 Sewer Rehabilitation have been revised and are herewith
14 submitted for reconside~ation as Contract No. 531 (Revised);
15 and
16 WHEREAS,. the Director of Communit.y Services &
17 Water has recommended that Contract No. 531 (Revised) be
18 approved by the City Council and advertised for bids; and
19 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon
20 has determined that it is in the best interests of the City
21 of Vernon that Contract No. 531 (Revised) be advertised in
22 accordance with applicable State law.
23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
24 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
25 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
26 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
27 hereinabove are true and correct.
28 SECTION 2: Contract No. 531 (Revised), Vernon
1 Avenue Sewer Rehabilitation, is hereby approved by the City
2 Council of the City of Vernon.
3 SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
4 hereby directed to file in his office at the City Hall of
5 the City of Vernon a copy of said contract.
6 SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
7 is hereby directed to give notice, in writing, inviting
8 sealed proposals or bids for Vernon Avenue Sewer
9 Rehabilitation in accordance with Contract No. 531 (Revised)
10 and in accordance with this resolution.
11 SECTION 5: There being no newspaper of general
12 circulation printed, published or circulated in the City of
13 Vernon, the City Clerk is hereby directed to post said
14 notice, or cause the same to be posted, in three of the most
15 public places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest
16 corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast
17 corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the
18 bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of
19 Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City.
20 SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
21 is hereby directed to post said notice forthwith and the
22 first posting of said notice shall be not less than ten (10)
23 days before the opening of the bids for the proposed
24 contract. Said notice shall provide that sealed proposals
25 or bids will be received by the City of Vernon at the office
26 of the City Clerk of the City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa
27 Fe Avenue, Vernon, CA 90058-0805, until the hour of 8:00
28 a.m. on the 11th day of July, 1996.

1 SECTION 7: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
2 shall certify to the passage of this resolution and
3 thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
4 effect.
5 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of June, 1996.
