RESOLUTION NO. 6920

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY
FROM THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS: COMMUNITY
SERVICES, CITY ADMINISTRATOR/CITY CLERK
(HEALTH/FINANCE), FIRE, LIGHT AND POWER, AND
POLICE (JAIL), PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.31 OF THE
VERNON CITY CODE

7 WHEREAS, pursuant to Vernon City Code section 2.31 and
8 Government Code Section 39350, the Purchasing Agent is authorized
9 to sell surplus property for the common benefit; and
10 WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, by
11 letter dated February 6, 1997, recommended to the Finance
12 Committee that the property from the following departments be
13 declared surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items
14 are obsolete, inoperable, or in poor and irreparable condition and
15 are therefor no longer useful to the needs of the City of Vernon:

1. Community Services Department, which property is more
17 particularly described on Exhibit "A", which is attached hereto
18 and made a part hereof by reference;
2. city Administrator/City Clerk Department (Health/
19
20 Finance), which property is more particularly described on Exhibit
21 "B", which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference;

3. Fire Department, which property is more particularly
24 described on Exhibit "C", which is attached hereto and made a part
25 hereof by reference;

4. Light and Power Department, which property is more
27 particularly described on Exhibit "D", which is attached hereto

5. Police Department (includinq Jail), which property is
more particularly described on Exhibit "E", which is attached
hereto and made a part hereof by reference; and
WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Purchasing Agent, has
recommended that the surplus property described in said Exhibits
be disposed of by public auction or be disposed of in the most
economical manner; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon
that the property described in said Exhibits be sold as surplus
property pursuant to section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The city Council of the city of Vernon does
hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove
are true and correct.
SECTION 2: In accordance with section 37350 of the
Government Code of the State of California, the City Council of
the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the property
described in the attached Exhibits "A", "B", "C", "D" and "E" is
surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon.
SECTION 3: The City AdministratorlCity Clerk is hereby
authorized to contract with an auction company andlor to obtain
bids for the sale of the property described in said Exhibits as
surplus property pursuant to section 2.31 of the Vernon city Code.
