RESOLUTION NO. 6982

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE SOUTHEAST WATER COALITION
JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT AMONG THE CITIES OF
CERRITOS, COMMERCE, DOWNEY, HUNTINGTON PARK,
LAKEWOOD, NORWALK, PARAMOUNT, PICO RIVERA, SOUTH
GATE, VERNON AND WHITTIER AND THE WATER
REPLENISHMENT DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

WHEREAS, the cities of Cerritos, Commerce, Downey, La
8
Mirada, Lakewood, Norwalk, Paramount, pico Rivera, Santa Fe
9
Springs, and Whittier along with the Central and West Basin Water
10
Replenishment District executed a Joint Powers Agreement
11
("Agreement") effective as of July 1, 1991, creating the Southeast
12
Water Coalition; and
13
WHEREAS, an Amendment to Southeast Water Coalition Joint
14
Powers Agreement No. 91-492 was executed on or about August 1994,
15
extending the term of the Agreement for a period of six (6) years
16
from and after July 1, 1991; and
17
WHEREAS, the city Council of the City of Vernon by
18
Resolution No. 6589 on February 21, 1995, adopted and approved the
execution of the Agreement and the Amendments to the Southeast
19
20
Water Coalition Joint Powers Agreement No. 91-492; and
21
WHEREAS, member cities of the Southeast Water Coalition
22
desire to amend said Agreement to extend the term of the Agreement
23
and to adjust the amount of per meeting compensation.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove
27
are true and correct.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
2 approves the Amendment to Southeast Water Coalition Joint Powers
3 Agreement, a copy of which has been presented to the City Council
4 concurrently with this resolution, and the City Council hereby
5 orders said Amendment to be received and filed by the City Clerk.

SECTION 3: The City council of the City of Vernon hereby
7 authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said Amendment
8 for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
9
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
10 certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
11 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
12 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 25th day of June, 1997.
