1 RESOLUTION NO. 6999
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
3 OF A ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF CONTRACT NO. 443
(1997/1998) BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF VERNON
4 AND SIGNAL MAINTENANCE, INC.
5 WHEREAS, Contract No. 443, Traffic Signal Maintenance
6 Agreement, was awarded to signal Maintenance, Inc., by Resolution
7 No. 4830 on August 6, 1981, for a term of five years from
8 September 1, 1981 to August 31, 1986; and
9 WHEREAS, said contract provided for annual cost increases
10 based on the consumer price index and for annual extensions
11 thereof after August 31, 1986; and
12 WHEREAS, said contract has been extended annually since
13 August 31, 1986, and has included cost adjustments with the last
14 extension approved by Resolution No. 6848 on September 3, 1996,
15 waiving the Consumer Price Index adjustment for that period; and
16 WHEREAS, said contract will expire on August 31, 1997,
17 unless extended, and Signal Maintenance, Inc. has requested a one-
18 year extension of said contract and, because of current economic
19 times, has waived the Consumer Price Index adjustment for the next
20 year; and
21 WHEREAS, the Director of Community Services and Water has
22 recommended that said contract be extended and has verified that
23 Signal Maintenance, Inc. has waived the Consumer Price Index
24 adjustment for the next year.
25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
26 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the city of Vernon hereby
28 finds and determines that the recitals cont~ined hereinabove are

true and correct.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
3 approves the Extension of Contract No. 443, 1997/1998, a copy of
4 which has been presented to the city Council concurrently with
5 this resolution, and the City Council hereby orders said Extension
6 to be received and filed by the City Clerk.

SECTION 3: The city Council of the City of Vernon hereby
8 authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute the Extension
9 of Contract No. 443 for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
10
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
11 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
12 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
13 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of August, 1997.
