A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY
FROM THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS: CITY
ADMINISTRATOR/CITY CLERK (FINANCE), COMMUNITY
SERVICES, FIRE, AND POLICE (JAIL), PURSUANT TO
SECTION 2.31 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE

WHEREAS, pursuant to Vernon City Code section 2.31 and
Government Code section 37350, the Purchasing Agent is authorized
to sell surplus property for the common benefit; and

WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, by
10
letter dated August 7, 1997, recommended to the Finance Committee
11
that the property from the following departments be declared
12
surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items are
13
obsolete, damaged or in poor condition and are therefor no longer
14
useful to the needs of the City of Vernon:
1. city Administrator/City Clerk Department (Finance),
15
16
which property is more particularly described on Exhibit "A",
17
which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference; and
18
2. Community Services Department, which property is more
19 particularly described on Exhibit "B", which is attached hereto
20 and made a part hereof by reference;

3. Fire Department, which property is more particularly
22
described on Exhibit "C", which is attached hereto and made a part
23
hereof by reference;

4. Police Department (includinq Jail), which property is
25
more particularly described on Exhibit "D", which is attached
26
hereto and made a part hereof by reference; and
WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Purchasing Agent, has
27

recommended that the surplus property described in said Exhibits
1 be disposed of by public auction or be disposed of in the most
2 economical mannerj and
3 WHEREAS, the city council of the City of Vernon has
4 determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon
5 that the property described in said Exhibits be sold as surplus
6 property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code.
7 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
8 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
10 hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove
11 are true and correct.

SECTION 2: In accordance with section 37350 of the
13 Government Code of the State of California, the City Council of
14 the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the property
15 described in the attached Exhibits "A", "B", "C" and "0" is
16 surplus to the needs of the city of Vernon.

SECTION 3: The City Administrator/City Clerk is hereby
18 authorized to contract with an auction company and/or to obtain
19 bids for the sale of the property described in said Exhibits as
20 surplus property pursuant to section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code.

SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
22 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
23 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
24 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of August, 1997.
