RESOLUTION NO. 7047

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY
FROM THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS: COMMUNITY
SERVICES, LIGHT AND POWER, AND POLICE (JAIL),
PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.31 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE

WHEREAS, pursuant to Vernon city Code Section 2.31 and

Government Code Section 39350, the Purchasing Agent is authorized
7
to sell surplus property for the common benefit; and
WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, by
8
9
letter dated November 6, 1997, recommended to the Finance
10
Committee that property from the following departments be declared
11
surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items are
12
obsolete, inoperable, or in poor and irreparable condition and are
13
therefore no longer useful to the needs of the City of Vernon:
14
1. Community Services Department, which property is more
15
particularly described on Exhibit "A", which is attached hereto
16
and made apart hereof by reference;
17
2. Liqht and Power Department, which property is more
18 particularly described on Exhibit "B", which is attached hereto
19 and made a part hereof by reference;
20
3. Police Department (includinq Jail), which property is
21
more particularly described on Exhibit "C", which is attached
22
hereto and made a part hereof by reference; and
23
WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Purchasing Agent, has
24
recommended that the surplus property described in said Exhibits
25
be disposed of by public auction or be disposed of in the most
26
economical manner; and
27
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon
28

1 that the property described in said Exhibits be sold as surplus
2 property pursuant to section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code.
3 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
4 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
6 hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove
7 are true and correct.

SECTION 2: In accordance with section 37350 of the
9 Government Code of the State of California, the City Council of
10 the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the property
11 described in the attached Exhibits "A", "B", and "C" is surplus to
12 the needs of the City of Vernon.

SECTION 3: The City Administrator/City Clerk is hereby
14 authorized to contract with an auction company and/or to obtain
15 bids for the sale of the property described in said Exhibits as
16 surplus property pursuant to section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code.
17
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
18 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
19 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
20 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of November, 1997.
