Resolution No. 7051 1 RESOLUTION 7051 2 A'RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 1998, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF VERNON 3 4 5 6 WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Charter of the City of Vernon, a General Municipal Election shall be held on April 14, 1998, for the election of Municipal Officers. 7 8 9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: 10 11 SECTION 1: Pursuant to the requirements of the Charter, 12 there is called and ordered to be held in the city of Vernon, 13 California, on Tuesday, April 14, 1998, a General Municipal Election 14 for the purpose of electing three (3) members of the City Council for the full term of four years. 15 16 SECTION 2: The ballots to be used at the election shall 17 be in form and content as required by law. SECTION 3: The City Clerk is authorized, instructed and 18 19 directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, 20 notices, and all equipment printed supplies, and matter 21 paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and 22 lawfully conduct the election. SECTION 4: Pursuant to section 4000 of the Elections Code 23 24 of the State of California, the election will be conducted entirely 25 by absent voter ballots. Ballots may be submitted by mail or hand 26 delivered but must be received by the City Clerk by 8:00 p.m. on April 14, 1998, as required by Section 4103 of the Elections Code of 27 the State of California. The City Clerk's Office at the City Hall 28 1 located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in the city of Vernon shall remain 2 open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on election day. 3 SECTION 5: In all particulars not recited in this 4 resolution, the election shall be held and conducted as provided by 5 law for holding municipal elections. 6 SECTION 6: Notice of the time and place of holding the 7 election is given and the City Clerk is authorized, instructed and 8 directed to give further or additional notice of the election, in 9 time, form and manner as required by law. 10 SECTION 7: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall 11 certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and 12 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. 13 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of December, 1997. 14 _/~~~~- 15 16 ATT~ ~/ BRUCE V.
