Re: Universal Care - Renewal
Group 10010A
Dear Joan:
Enclosed is a letter dated November 13, 1997 from Mr. Allan Rahn, Associate Vice President,
Universal Care wherein Mr. Rahn confirms that Universal Care rates will remain unchanaed for
the policy year from January 1, 1998 to January 1, 1999.
The renewal rates will continue unchanged as follows:
Current Rates:
Renewal Rates:

Employee
$ 98.58
~ 98.58
ZERO
Two Party
$ 226.70
~ 226.70
ZERO

$ 394.59
,$394.59

As you know, with this rate action Universal Care has not had a premium change since the
inception of their 'Coverage on January 1, 1996. This means that with the renewal the same
rates will have been inforce for (3) three years. This is, indeed, rare in these times of high
medical inflation.
We are, needless to say, very pleased with this rate action.
Should you have any questions, I will be very happy to answer them.
Sincerely, .

RE: CITY OF VERNON
Dear Pete:
This letter confirms our conversation of yesterday regarding the renewal of the City ofVemon
for the next twelve months without any change in rates.
We appreciate your confirmation that the city will not go through a bidding process for the
ensuing one year term and look forward to examining how our Point of Service Choice Plan rider
will support a number of the city's employees needs.
Evelyn will coordinate the open enrollment effort and will begin the communication of our
POS plan's advantages within the next week.
It's always a pleasure speaking with you and your staff.
Thanks again for your continued support.
