A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE
REALLOCATION OF REVENUE GENERATED BY
PROPOSITION A OF 1996 TO THE CITIES OF
BELL, LYNWOOD, AND MAYWOOD FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO
QUALIFIED PROJECTS
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County Taxpayers approved
Proposition A of 1996, which provides funds to incorporated
cities of Los Angeles County for capital outlay projects to
acquire, develop, improve or restore real property for parks
and recreation purposes; and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open
Space District has been delegated the responsibility for the
administration of the program within the County and to set
up necessary procedures governing applications by local
agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon does not have any
current program for developing facilities for public
recreation; and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Bell, Lynwood, and Maywood
have parks and recreation facilities which benefit the
residents of the surrounding area, including the City of
Vernon; and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Bell, Lynwood, and Maywood
have communicated that they are willing to accept the funds
allocated to the City of Vernon and use them for
improvements to qualified projects which will benefit
residents of all surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County has authorized the

transfer to neighboring communities of the $22,412.00
allocated to the City of Vernon under Proposition A of 1996.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby authorizes Los Angeles County to pay the City of
Vernon its allocation of $22,412.00 to the Cities of Bell,
Lynwood, and Maywood for use in improvements to qualified
parks and recreation program.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk is directed to transmit
a copy of this resolution to the Los Angeles County Regional
Park and Open space District, 433 South Vermont Avenue, Los
Angeles, Ca 90020-1975.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and
thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 27th day of January,
1998.
