RESOLUTION NO. 7120
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON COMMENDING FIRE ENGINEER BRADLEY W.
MILLER FOR HIS EXEMPLARY SERVICES TO THE CITY OF
VERNON DURING 1997
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon by
Resolution No. 6355 adopted on November 23, 1993, adopted a
Superior Performance and Ideas Resulting in Tangible Savings
("SPIRITS") Program to recognize the value of employees of the
City of Vernon who strive to give superior performance and/or who
develop innovative ideas with cost savings to the City by the
presentation of various types of awards; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with said SPIRITS program, the
Superior Performance awards are given based on an employee's
previous annual evaluation of outstanding performance utilizing a
three-tier level selection process; and
WHEREAS, Level 1 of the selection process consists of
recommendations made to the respective Department Heads of the
names of outstanding employees and awards being made by the
Department Head at their discretion to said employee based on the
awards set forth in the SPIRITS program; and
WHEREAS, an awards committee selects a Department award
recipient from the recipients of Level 1 awards; and
WHEREAS, by letter dated March 18, 1998, Bruce V.
Malkenhorst, City Administrator/City Clerk, advised the City
Council that the Fire Department had selected Bradley W. Miller,
Fire Engineer, to receive the SPIRITS 1997 ANNUAL DEPARTMENT AWARD
(Level 2); and
1 WHEREAS, in order to advance to Level 3 of said selection
2 process an awards committee composed of Department Heads and/or
3 their designees selects one annual SPIRITS City award recipient
4 from the recipients of Level 2 awards; and
5 WHEREAS, Bradley W. Miller, Fire Engineer in the Fire
6 Department, has demonstrated a high degree of initiative and skill
7 such that the awards committee has selected him to receive the
8 SPIRITS 1997 ANNUAL CITY AWARD (Level 3) in recognition of his
9 excellent and superior performance; and
10 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes to
11 express its appreciation and gratitude to Bradley W. Miller for
12 his exemplary services to the City.
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
14 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
15 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
16 expresses its appreciation and gratitude to Bradley W. Miller for
17 his exemplary services to the City of Vernon.
18 SECTION 2: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
19 certify to the passage of this resolution and present a certified
20 copy thereof to Bradley W. Miller and thereupon and thereafter the
21 same shall be in full force and effect.
