RESOLUTION NO. 7124
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR AN
ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE GRANT FROM THE
CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD
WHEREAS, funds have been established by Public Resources
Code Section 43230, and are available from the Integrated Waste
Management Account through the California Integrated Waste
Management Board for grants to Local Enforcement Agencies to
support solid waste facilities permit and inspection programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon Health Department has been
appointed as the solid waste Local Enforcement Agency for the City
of Vernon and is eligible for an Enforcement Assistance Grant from
the California Integrated Waste Management Board of up to
$15,000.00; and
WHEREAS, in order to receive the Enforcement Assistance
Grant it is necessary to submit an application by May 29, 1998;
and
WHEREAS, the Director of Environmental Health has
recommended that the City Council approve the application to be
filed with the California Integrated Waste Management Board for
funds in the amount of Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and
No Cents ($13,500.00) for equipment and training expenses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.

1 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
2 hereby approves the application for an Enforcement Assistance
3 Grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board in the
4 amount of Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and No Cents
5 ($13,500.00), a copy of which has been presented to the City
6 Council concurrently with this resolution.
7 SECTION 3: The City Council hereby authorizes and
8 directs the City Administrator to act on the City's behalf in all
9 matters pertaining to said Application. The City Administrator is
10 authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of
11 Vernon all necessary applications, contracts, agreements and
12 amendments for the purposes of securing grant funds and to
13 implement and carryout the purposes specified in the application.
14 SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
15 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
16 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
17 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of May, 1998.

Resolution No. 7124, was duly adopted by the City Council of the
City of Vernon at a regular meeting of the City Council duly held
on Tuesday, May 5, 1998, and thereafter was duly signed by the
Mayor of the City of Vernon.
