Resolution No. 71331 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 7133 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR AN ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD, AND REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 7124 WHEREAS, funds have been established by Public Resources Code Section 43230, and are available from the Integrated Waste Management Account through the California Integrated Waste Management Board for grants to Local Enforcement Agencies to support solid waste facilities permit and inspection programs; and WHEREAS, the City of Vernon Health Department has been appointed as the solid waste Local Enforcement Agency for the City of Vernon and is eligible for an Enforcement Assistance Grant from Ithe California Integrated Waste Management Board of up to $15,000.00; and WHEREAS, in order to receive the Enforcement Assistance Grant it is necessary to submit an application by May 29, 1998; I and WHEREAS, the Director of Environmental Health has recommended that the City Council approve the application to be filed with the California Integrated Waste Management Board for (funds in the amount of Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and No Cents ($13,500.00) for equipment and training expenses; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 7124, approving said grant application, was adopted by the City Council on May 5, 1998, but, inadvertently, the completed grant application form was not presented to the Council as stated in Section 2, and it is the desire and intent of the Council to repeal Resolution No. 7124 and 1 2 3 4 5 6 71 8 9 10 11 F1Pal 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 241 25 26 27 28 approve the application by this resolution, having been presented with the properly completed application form. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct. SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby approves the application for an Enforcement Assistance Grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board in the amount of Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and No Cents ($13,500.00), a copy of which has been presented to the City Council concurrently with this resolution. SECTION 3: The City Council hereby authorizes and directs the City Administrator to act on the City's behalf in all matters pertaining to said Application. The City Administrator is authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Vernon all necessary applications, contracts, agreements and amendments for the purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the application.
