RESOLUTION NO. 7154
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON ELECTING TO RECEIVE ALLOCATION OF TAXES
PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE COMMUNITY
REDEVELOPMENT LAW
WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Vernon
("Agency") is engaged in activities necessary or appropriate to
carry out the California Community Redevelopment Law (Health &
Safety Code Sections 33000, et sea.) within the City of Vernon;
I and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 33330 of the Community
Redevelopment Law, the Agency has prepared a proposed Amended
Redevelopment Plan for the First Amendment to the Redevelopment
Project in the City of Vernon; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 33670 of the Community
Redevelopment Law, the Amended Redevelopment Plan for the First
Amendment to the Industrial Redevelopment Project contains a
provision for the allocation of taxes; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 33676 of the Community
Redevelopment Law, an "affected taxing agency" may elect to be
allocated, in addition to the portion of taxes allocated pursuant
to subdivision (a) of Section 33670, all or any portion of tax
revenues allocated to a redevelopment agency pursuant to
subdivision (b) of Section 33670 attributable to increases in the
rate of tax imposed for the benefit of the taxing agency which
levy occurs after the tax year in which the ordinance adopting the
redevelopment plan becomes effective; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon is an "affected taxing
1 agency" as defined in Section 33353.2 of the Community
2 Redevelopment Law.
3 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
4 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
5 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
6 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are
7 true and correct.
8 SECTION 2: The City of Vernon, as an affected taxing
9 agency, does hereby elect to receive, in addition to that portion
10 of taxes allocated to the City pursuant to subdivision (a) of
11 Section 33670 and subdivisions (a) and (b) of Section 33607.5, all
12 that portion of the tax revenues allocated to the Agency pursuant
13 to subdivision (b) of Section 33670 attributable to increases in
14 the rate of tax imposed for the benefit of the taxing agency which
15 levy occurs after the tax year in which the ordinance adopting the
16 redevelopment plan becomes effective.
17 SECTION 3: The City Clerk is hereby authorized and
18 directed to file copies of this Resolution with the Agency, the
19 Auditor -Controller of the County of Los Angeles, and the Tax
20 Collector of the County of Los Angeles.
21 SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
22 certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
23 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
