2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON ACCEPTING THE BID OF SULLY -MILLER
3 CONTRACTING COMPANY FOR VARIOUS STREETS
IMPROVEMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO.
4 538 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AND APPROVING THE
EXECUTION OF SAID CONTRACT

6 WHEREAS, Contract No. 538 of the City of Vernon
7 was approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon
8 pursuant to Resolution No. 7134, and sealed bids were opened
9 on June 16, 1998; and
10 WHEREAS, said bids were referred to Samuel Kevin
11 Wilson, Director of Community Services, who has reported to
12 the City Council under the date of June 17, 1998,
13 recommending that Contract No. 538 for Various Streets
14 Improvement be executed with Sully -Miller Contracting
15 Company on the basis of its bid in the sum of Nine Hundred
16 Forty-eight Thousand Eight Hundred Twenty-seven dollars and
17 Twenty-seven cents ($948,827.27), being the lowest
18 responsible bid meeting the contract requirements.
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
20 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
21 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
22 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
23 hereinabove are true and correct.
24 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
25 does hereby award Contract No. 538 to Sully -Miller
26 Contracting Company, in accordance with the recommendation
27 of Samuel Kevin Wilson, Director of Community Services, and
28 authorizes the Mayor to execute said Contract on behalf of

the City.
SECTION 3: All other bids are rejected subject to
execution of the contract and the City Treasurer is hereby
directed to return unsuccessful bidders any cashier or
certified checks deposited with said bids upon the receipt
of an executed contract from Sully -Miller Contracting
Company accompanied by all required bonds and certificates.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution and
thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
effect.
