A RESOLUTION OF.THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 6955 TO
ESTABLISH HEALTH PERMIT FEES FOR WASTE
COLLECTION VEHICLE YARDS AND TO MAKE TECHNICAL
CHANGES IN THE DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESSES
SUBJECT TO HEALTH PERMIT FEES
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted
Resolution No. 6955 on May 20, 1997, establishing health permit,
hazardous materials establishment permit, and application fees for
permits granted pursuant to Sections 11.25, 13.7, 13.31, 13.53,
25.12 and 15.13-6 of the Vernon City Code; and
WHEREAS, on March 30, 1999, the City Council introduced
Ordinance No. 1071, which upon taking effect will amend Sections
13.6 and 13.7 of the Vernon City Code to make waste collection
vehicle yards subject to the regulations contained therein and
which also will revise certain outdated terms to conform to
recently -enacted changes to Chapter 12 of the Vernon City Code;
I and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that waste collection vehicle
yards be subject to the same permit fees as other waste collection
and waste disposal enterprises; and
WHEREAS, a duly noticed public hearing concerning the
fees covered by this resolution was held before the City Council
on March 30, 1999; and
WHEREAS, Lewis J. Pozzebon, Director of Environmental
Health, has recommended the revisions to the fee schedule
contained in Resolution No. 6955 as set forth in this Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.
SECTION 2: Section 2 of Resolution No. 6955 is amended
in its entirety to read as follows:
The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
establishes the following issuance fees and annual
renewal fees for permits granted by the City of Vernon
pursuant to Section 13.8 of the Vernon City Code:

SECTION 4: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said
Agreement for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

RESOLUTION NO. 6955
Date: March 25, 1999
In December, 1998, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 1067, which updated portions of the
Vernon City Code relating to solid waste, and consolidated them into Chapter 12 of the Code.
Ordinance No. 1071 changes terminology in Chapter 13 to coincide with the new terminology in
Chapter 12, and creates a new permit requirement for waste collection vehicle yards. The subject
resolution was prepared to amend Resolution No. 6955 to reflect updated health permit categories
and fees for waste collection and disposal enterprises.
We are recommending that the City Council adopt Resolution No.7298 which amends Resolution
No. 6955 to reflect updated categories and fees.
Notices of public hearing for the health permit fee changes have been published in the Metropolitan
News -Enterprise on March 19 and 26, 1999. Proof of publication is attached.
