Resolution No. 7354I RESOLUTION M. 7354 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY FROM 4 THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS: CIVIL DEFENSE, COMMUNITY SERVICES AND WATER, UTILITIES AND POLICE PURSUANT TO 5 SECTION 2.31 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE 6 7 WHEREAS, pursuant to Vernon City Code Section 2.31 and 8 Government Code Section 37350, the City of Vernon may sell surplus 9 property for the common benefit; and 10 WHEREAS, the Finance Committee on June 14, 1999, recommended 11 that the property from the following departments be declared surplus 12 to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items are obsolete, 13 inoperable, or in poor and irreparable condition and are therefor no 14 longer useful to the needs of the City of Vernon: 15 1. Civil Defense Department, which property is more 16 particularly described on Exhibit "A," which is attached hereto and 17 made a part hereof by reference; 18 2. community Services and Water Department, which property 19 is more particularly described on Exhibit "B," which is attached 20 hereto and made a part hereof by reference; 21 3. Utilities Department, which property is more particularly 22 described on Exhibit "C," which is attached hereto and made a part 23 hereof by reference; and 24 4. Police Department, which property is more particularly 25 described on Exhibit "D," which is attached hereto and made a part 26 hereof by reference; and 27 WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon 28 that the property described in said Exhibits be sold as surplus { f ' property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION l: The City Council of the City of Vernon does hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove are true and correct. SECTION 2: In accordance with Government Code Section 37350 and Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code, the City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the property described in the attached Exhibits "A," "B," "C," and "D" is surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon. SECTION —a: The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to contract with an auction company, to obtain bids or to make other arrangements for the sale of the property described in said Exhibits as surplus property pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code. SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
