A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON APPROVING BID NO. 1385 AND AUTHORIZING NOTICE
INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE
4 OF A GENERATOR AND TRANSFER SWITCH FOR THE COMMUNITY
SERVICES AND WATER DEPARTMENT FOR WELL 18 ON 51ST
5 STREET IN ACCORDANCE WITH BID NO. 1385 OF THE CITY
OF VERNON

7 WHEREAS, the Community Services and Water Department of the
8 City of Vernon is in need of a generator and transfer switch to
9 perform as a backup power system for Well 18 on 51st Street; and
10 WHEREAS, on June 14, 1999, the Finance Committee approved the
11 recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Director of Finance, dated
12 June 10, 1999, that the City Council authorize the Purchasing Section
13 to seek formal bids for the purchase of a generator and transfer
14 switch for the Community Services and Water Department, at the
15 approximate total amount of Fifty -Four Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
16 and No Cents ($54,500.00)(including tax); and
17 WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of the
18 City of Vernon a Purchase Requisition (No. 03507), which has been
19 assigned a Bid Number of 1385 by the Purchasing Department, for the
20 purchase of a generator and transfer switch; and
21 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
22 determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon that
23 bids be solicited in accordance with applicable State law and the
24 Vernon City Code.
25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
26 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
27 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
28 hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove are
I true and correct.
2 SECTION 2: Purchase Requisition (No. 03507), Bid No. 1385, is
3 hereby approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon.
4 SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
5 directed to file in his office at the City Hall of the City of Vernon
6 a copy of said Purchase Requisition (No. 03507), Bid No. 1385.
7 SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
8 directed to give notice, in writing, inviting sealed proposals or bids
9 for the purchase of a generator and transfer switch, in accordance
10 with Purchase Requisition (No. 03507), Bid No. 1385, and in accordance
11 with this resolution.
12 SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general circulation
13 printed, published or circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk
14 is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to be
15 posted, in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to
16 wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the
17 northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the
18 bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon,
19 located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City.
20 SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
21 directed to post said notice forthwith and the first posting of said
22 notice shall be at least ten (10) days before the opening of the bids
23 for the proposed contract. Said notice shall provide that sealed
24 proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon at the office
25 of the City Clerk of the City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue,
26 Vernon, CA 90058-0805.

I, BRUCE V. MALKENHORST, City Clerk of the City of Vernon, do
hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution, being Resolution No.
7387, was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Vernon at a
regular meeting of the City Council duly held on Tuesday, August 3,
1999, and thereafter was duly signed by the Mayor of the City of
Vernon.
