A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON AMENDING SCHEDULE II, EXHIBIT "B," PAGE 11,
AND SCHEDULE V, EXHIBIT "E," OF RESOLUTION NO. 7359,
4 WHICH FIXED THE COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES
OF SAID CITY AND AUTHORIZED CERTAIN EXPENSE
5 ALLOWANCES

7 WHEREAS, Resolution No. 7359 was adopted by the City Council
8 of the City of Vernon on June 29, 1999, to be effective on July 1,
9 1999; and
10 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted
11 Resolution No. 7009 on September 2, 1997, which approved a Fourth
12 Side -Letter Agreement between the Municipal Employees Relations
13 Representative and the Vernon Police Officers' Benefit Association
14 amending the Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") previously adopted by
15 Resolution No. 5489 on March 15, 1988, as amended by a Side -Letter
16 Agreement adopted by Resolution No. 6001 on January 21, 1992, a Second
17 Side -Letter Agreement adopted by Resolution No. 6258 on October 5,
18 1993, and a Third Side -Letter Agreement adopted by Resolution No. 6656
19 on July 11, 1995; and
20 WHEREAS, Section 7.5 of the MOU, as amended by the Fourth
21 Side -Letter Agreement, provides for a cost of living increase in the
22 court appearance and standby status fees effective September 1, 1999;
23 and
24 WHEREAS, Schedule II, Exhibit "B," page 11 of Resolution No.
25 7359 provides for the positions and salary scales of police officers
26 and sergeants in the Vernon Police Department; and
27 WHEREAS, Schedule V, Exhibit "E," of Resolution No. 7359
28 provides for the compensation for court appearances and standby
1 status; and
2 WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2.4 of the MOU, as
3 amended by the Fourth Side -Letter Agreement, the City Council of the
4 City of Vernon intends to establish a new salary schedule for the
5 positions of police officers and sergeants in the Vernon Police
6 Department; and
7 WHEREAS, certain schedules of Resolution No. 7359 need to be
8 modified in order to implement the provisions of the Fourth Side-
9 Letter Agreement.
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
11 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
12 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
13 hereby find and determine that the recitals contained hereinabove are
14 true and correct.
15 SECTION 2: Effective September 1, 1999, Schedule II, Exhibit
16 "B," page 11 of Resolution No. 7359 is hereby amended to establish new
17 salary schedules for the positions of police officers and sergeants in
18 the Vernon Police Department as indicated on the amended page 11 of
19 Schedule II, Exhibit "B," which is attached hereto as Attachment A and
20 made a part hereof.
21 SECTION 3: Effective September 1, 1999, Schedule V, Exhibit
22 "E" of Resolution 7359 is hereby amended to establish new compensation
23 for court appearances and standby status for the positions of police
24 officers and sergeants in the Vernon Police Department as indicated on
25 the amended Schedule V, Exhibit "E," which is attached hereto as
26 Attachment B and made a part hereof.
27 SECTION 4: In all other respects, Resolution No. 7359 shall
28 remain in full force and effect, and the provisions of Resolution No.

1 7359 not consistent with or in conflict with this resolution are
2 hereby repealed.
3 SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
4 certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter
5 the same shall be in full force and effect.
