Resolution No. 7420I RESOLUTION NO. 7420 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 3 VERNON ACCEPTING THE BID OF DUTHIE POWER SERVICES ON BID NO. 1385 FOR THE PURCHASE OF A GENERATOR AND 4 TRANSFER SWITCH FOR THE COMMUNITY SERVICES AND WATER DEPARTMENT FOR WELL 18 ON 51ST STREET AND APPROVING 5 AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN EQUIPMENT PURCHASE CONTRACT AND THE ISSUANCE OF A PURCHASE 6 ORDER RESPECTING SAID BID 7 8 WHEREAS, the Community Services and Water Department is in 9 need of a generator and transfer switch to perform as a backup power 10 system for Well 18 on 51st Street; and 11 WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 7387 adopted by the City 12 Council of the City of Vernon on August 3, 1999, the City Clerk was 13 directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the 14 purchase of said generator and transfer switch in accordance with Bid 15 No. 1385; and 16 WHEREAS, Bid No. 1385 of the City of Vernon was approved by 17 the City Council of the City of Vernon pursuant to Resolution No. 18 7387, and sealed bids were opened on September 16, 1999; and 19 WHEREAS, the following bids were received on Bid No. 1385: 20 Duthie Power Services bid,a total of Fifty -Four Thousand Four Hundred 21 Ninety -Three Dollars and No Cents ($54,493.00); Valley Detroit Diesel 22 Allison bid a total of Fifty -Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Eight 23 Dollars and Seventy -Five Cents ($57,808.75); Western Power Industrial 24 Electrical, Inc. bid a total of Sixty -Two Thousand Four Hundred 25 Dollars and Seventy -One Cents ($62,400.71); and Power Systems 26 Associates bid a total of Seventy -Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Ninety- 27 Six Dollars and Seventy Cents ($77,896.70); and 28 WHEREAS, said bids were referred to the Community Services 1 and Water Department and the Purchasing Department for review and said 2 Departments have suggested that Bid No. 1385 be awarded to Duthie 3 Power Services on the basis of its bid in the sum of Fifty -Four 4 Thousand Four Hundred Ninety -Three Dollars and No Cents ($54,493.00), 5 including tax, being the lowest responsible bidder meeting the 6 requirements of Bid No. 1385. 7 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE 8 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: 9 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 10 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true 11 and correct. 12 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 13 accepts and approves the Equipment Purchase Contract, a copy of which 14 has been presented to the City Council concurrently with this 15 resolution, and the City Council hereby orders said Contract to be 16 received and filed by the City Clerk. 17 SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby 18 awards Bid No. 1385 to Duthie Power Services, authorizes the Mayor Pro 19 Tem and the City Clerk to execute the Equipment Purchase Contract on 20 behalf of the City and authorizes the issuance of a purchase order for 21 the purchase of the generator and transfer switch pursuant to Bid No. 22 1385. 23 SECTION 4: All other bids in connection with Bid No. 1385 are 24 rejected, subject to execution of the aforesaid contract documents, 25 and the City Treasurer is hereby directed to return to any 26 unsuccessful bidders any cashier or certified checks which may have 27 been deposited with said bids, upon receipt of the executed contract 28 documents from Duthie Power Services, accompanied by all required -2- I certificates. 2 SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall 3 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and 4 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. 5 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of October, 1999. 6 , �- 7 8 ATTEST -A�A - THOMAS A.
