A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON ACCEPTING THE BID OF CAL PROTECTION, INC. ON
BID NO. 1386 FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF
4 ONE (1) FM-200 FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR THE
COMMUNITY SERVICES AND WATER DEPARTMENT AND
5 AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN EQUIPMENT PURCHASE
CONTRACT AND THE ISSUANCE OF A PURCHASE ORDER
6 RESPECTING SAID BID

8 WHEREAS, the Community Services and Water Department is in
9 need of one (1) FM-200 Fire Protection System to serve the
10 Communication Command Center, Telephone Equipment Room and the
11 Communication Equipment Room in the basement of the Vernon City Hall;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 7405 adopted by the City
14 Council of the City of Vernon on August 17, 1999, the City Clerk was
15 directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for the
16 purchase of said FM-200 Fire Protection System in accordance with a
17 Bid Proposal; and
18 WHEREAS, the Purchasing Department has assigned a number to
19 said Bid Proposal which is now known as Bid No. 1386; and
20 WHEREAS, the Bid Proposal (Bid No. 1386) of the City of
21 Vernon was approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon pursuant
22 to Resolution No. 7405, and sealed bids were opened on October 5,
23 1999; and
24 WHEREAS, the following bids were received on Bid No. 1386:
25 Cal Protection bid a total of Thirty -Four Thousand Seven Hundred
26 Thirty -Five Dollars and No Cents ($34,735.00); Air Gas Fire Protection
27 bid a total of Thirty -Eight Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and No Cents
28 ($38,500.00); and Mid -Valley Automatic Fire Systems Inc. bid a total
I of Fifty -Five Thousand Six Hundred Sixty -Five Dollars and No Cents
2 ($55,665.00); and
3 WHEREAS, said bids were reviewed and approved by the
4 Community Services and Water Department; and
5 WHEREAS, on October 12, 1999, the Finance Committee approved
6 the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Director of Finance,
7 dated October 7, 1999, that Bid No. 1386 be awarded to Cal Protection
8 on the basis of its bid in the sum of Thirty -Four Thousand Seven
9 Hundred Thirty -Five Dollars and No Cents ($34,735.00), including tax,
10 being the lowest responsible bidder meeting the requirements of Bid
11 No. 1386.
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
13 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
14 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
15 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
16 and correct.
17 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
18 accepts and approves the Equipment Purchase Contract, a copy of which
19 has been presented to the City Council concurrently with this
20 resolution, and the City Council hereby orders said Contract to be
21 received and filed by the City Clerk.
22 SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
23 awards Bid No. 1386 to Cal Protection, authorizes the Mayor and the
24 City Clerk to execute the Equipment Purchase Contract on behalf of the
25 City and authorizes the issuance of a purchase order for the purchase
26 and installation of one (1) FM-200 Fire Protection System pursuant to
27 Bid No. 1386.
28 SECTION 4: All other bids in connection with Bid No. 1386 are

I rejected, subject to execution of the aforesaid contract documents,
2 and the City Treasurer is hereby directed to return to any
3 unsuccessful bidders any cashier or certified checks which may have
4 been deposited with said bids, upon receipt of the executed contract
5 documents from Cal Protection, accompanied by all required
6 certificates.
7 SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
8 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
9 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
10 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of October, 1999.

7427, was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Vernon at a
