A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A
ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF CONTRACT NO. 548 (JANUARY 1,
4 2000-DECEMBER 31, 2000) BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF
VERNON AND JOE'S SWEEPING, INC., DBA NATIONWIDE
5 ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

7 WHEREAS, Contract No. 548, Street Sweeping 1999, was awarded
8 to Joe's Sweeping, Inc., dba Nationwide Environmental Services
9 ("Nationwide") by Resolution No. 7229 on November 3, 1998; and
10 WHEREAS, said contract provides for annual cost increases
11 based on the consumer price index and for annual extensions thereof;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, Contract No. 548 will expire on December 31, 1999,
14 unless extended and Nationwide has requested a one year extension of
15 said contract with a cost increase; and
16 WHEREAS, the Director of Community Services & Water has
17 recommended that said contract be extended and has verified that
18 Nationwide is eligible for an increase based on the consumer price
19 index.
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
21 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
22 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
23 finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
24 and correct.
25 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
26 approves the Extension of Contract No. 548, a copy of which has been
27 presented to the City Council concurrently with this resolution, and
28 the City Council hereby orders said Extension to be received and filed

by the City Clerk.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said Extension for,
and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

EXTENSION OF CONTRACT NO. 548
(January 1, 2000-December 31, 2000)
Contract No. 548, Street Sweeping 1999, entered into by and
between the City of Vernon and Joe's Sweeping, Inc., dba Nationwide
Environmental Services, is hereby extended for a one (1) year period
from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2000, according to the section on
"Contract Extension" in the Special Provisions of said Contract.
According to the section on "Compensation" in the Special
Provisions of said Contract, Joe's Sweeping, Inc., dba Nationwide
Environmental Services, is granted a price adjustment in accordance
with the Consumer Price Index for January 1 to December 31, 2000, at
seventy-five percent (750) of such Consumer Price Index, which
adjustment will be determined when the index changes are issued.
In all other respects,'the terms and conditions of Contract
No. 548, Street Sweeping 1999, shall remain in full force and effect.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this
Extension to be executed as of this Id""4 day of November, 1999, in
the City of Vernon, California.
