A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON DIRECTING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ENTER INTO
NEGOTIATIONS WITH SAULSBURY FIRE RESCUE, INC. FOR
4 THE PURCHASE OF ONE URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE VEHICLE
PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.29-3 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE

6 WHEREAS, the Fire Department of the City of Vernon has
7 advised that it needs to purchase an Urban Search and Rescue Vehicle
8 and the necessary equipment for said vehicle; and
9 WHEREAS, local agencies are sometimes offered the opportunity
10 to join with federal, state or county agencies in bid awards to reap
11 the same monetary benefit; and
12 WHEREAS, the Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. sent
13 out a request for proposal for an Urban Search and Rescue vehicle
14 which was awarded to Saulsbury Fire Rescue, Inc. as the lowest
15 responsible bidder; and
16 WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has been given the opportunity to
17 purchase an Urban Search and Rescue Vehicle from Saulsbury Fire
18 Rescue, Inc. utilizing the awarded bid with Sheridan Volunteer Fire
19 Department, Inc. with a minor amendment as to chassis design; and
20 WHEREAS, on November 9, 1999, the Finance Committee approved
21 the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Director of Finance,
22 dated November 4, 1999, that authority be granted for the Purchasing
23 Agent, or his designee, to negotiate the terms of an agreement with
24 Saulsbury Fire Rescue, Inc.; and
25 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that, based upon the above,
26 it is necessary for the Purchasing Agent to enter into negotiations
27 with Saulsbury Fire Rescue, Inc. for the purchase of one Urban Search
28 and Rescue vehicle and various equipment necessary for the said

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The Purchasing Agent for the City of Vernon, or
his designee, is directed to enter into negotiations with Saulsbury
Fire Rescue, Inc. for the purchase of One Urban Search and Rescue
vehicle and to report to the City Council on the results of the
negotiations with a recommendation for action.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
