A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING NOTICE INVITING
SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A ONE
AND A HALF -TON FLATBED TRUCK FOR THE UTILITIES
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Utilities Department is in need of a one and a
half -ton flatbed truck to transport large padmounted transformers and
69 kV Circuit Breakers; and
WHEREAS, on December 14, 1999, the Finance Committee approved
the recommendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Director of Finance,
dated December 9, 1999, that authority be granted for the Purchasing
Agent, or his designee, to seek formal bids for the purchase of a one
and a half -ton flatbed truck at an approximate cost of Thirty -Six
Thousand Dollars and No Cents ($36,000.00); and
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the Finance Committee of
the City of Vernon a Bid Proposal for the purchase of the one and a
half -ton flatbed truck; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon that
bids be solicited in accordance with applicable State law and the
Vernon City Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are true
and correct.
SECTION 2: The Bid Proposal, which is attached hereto and
made a part hereof as Exhibit "A," is hereby approved by the City
I Council of the City of Vernon.
2 SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
3 directed to give notice, in writing, inviting sealed proposals or bids
4 for the purchase of a one and a half -ton flatbed truck, in accordance
5 with the Bid Proposal, and in accordance with this resolution.
6 SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general circulation
7 printed, published or circulated in the City of Vernon, the City Clerk
8 is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause the same to be
9 posted, in three of the most public places in the City of Vernon, to
10 wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the
11 northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the
12 bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon,
13 located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City.
14 SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby
15 directed to post said notice forthwith and the first posting of said
16 notice shall be at least ten (10) days before the opening of the bids
17 for the proposed contract. Said notice shall provide that sealed
18 proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon at the office
19 of the City Clerk, or his designee, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe
20 Avenue, Vernon, CA 90058-0805.

SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
